Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Role Overview

Transcarent is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design backend systems, influence engineering best practices, and solve complex problems with broad organizational impact. You’ll focus on distributed systems, API design, data modeling, and high-performing backend services, with an interest in AI/LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Go, Python, and LLM frameworks
• Implement and integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL for frontend/backend communication
• Design, develop, and maintain database solutions, commonly including PostgreSQL
• Write clean, scalable, efficient, well-documented code following engineering standards
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product managers, and other engineers across the software development lifecycle
• Debug and resolve technical issues to improve performance, reliability, and remove bottlenecks
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to scalable, robust system design

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Interest in and ability to work with AI technologies and LLMs
• Experience working cross-functionally in a dynamic environment
• Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Kanban and/or Agile

Tech Stack / Core Skills

• Strong Go experience for backend services and APIs
• Ability to work across the stack with a backend focus
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
• Solid database fundamentals and experience with relevant database systems
• Proficiency with Git
• Cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure

Nice-to-Haves

• Healthcare domain experience
• Demonstrated ownership mindset and willingness to seek guidance when needed

Location & Compensation

• Remote position (United States)
• Salary range: $155,000–$170,000 USD (annual)
