Senior Software Engineer - Backend Systems

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer – Backend Systems (Remote, U.S. only). This role builds robust, scalable, high-performance backend infrastructure and APIs that power the core software platform.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Software Architect to design, develop, and maintain core API services and backend daemon infrastructure.
• Build high-performance asynchronous APIs and real-time services using:
  • REST, gRPC, WebSockets
  • real-time telemetry streaming
• Develop scalable backend services including job orchestration, user quota management, and complex multi-tenant operations.
• Optimize application memory efficiency via pooling, profiling, memory allocation optimization, and garbage-collection techniques.
• Design and enforce secure multi-tenant isolation for reliable customer resource separation.
• Support product launches and ensure infrastructure stability during high-demand periods.
• Apply software security best practices across the development lifecycle (data integrity, privacy, compliance).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across distributed systems and backend services.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen only (no visa sponsorship).
• 7+ years of professional backend software development.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python.
• Strong experience building asynchronous, high-concurrency backend services.
• Deep experience creating memory-efficient applications (profiling, allocation optimization, reducing memory footprint).
• Strong distributed systems and networking knowledge, including REST, gRPC, and WebSockets.
• Experience deploying with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to work in multiple programming languages and learn new technologies quickly.
• Proven problem-solving and debugging skills for complex distributed environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholder-friendly technical explanations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with C++, Go, or Rust.
• Experience in polyglot architectures.
