Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Role Overview

Sigma is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to build a high-performance data exploration and analytics platform on modern data architecture.

What You Will Be Doing

• Solve challenging problems related to interactive data exploration on data warehouses.
• Build backend distributed services, algorithms, and modern APIs to support a cloud application.
• Use modern tools and languages including Rust, Go, GraphQL, Node, and Kubernetes.
• Triage product/system issues by debugging and tracking root causes.
• Design and implement new backend features to support a rapidly growing user base.
• Collaborate via design and code reviews with peers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industry experience building and maintaining high-quality software.
• Experience building and deploying robust, secure web applications in a continuous deployment environment.
• Strong teamwork mindset with ownership and a dedication to craftsmanship.
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals.

Qualifications We Want (Nice to Have)

• Data-driven aptitude for solving distributed systems problems.
• Experience with data model design and API development.
• SQL query optimization and database internals.
• Experience administering cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Experience at high-growth companies solving technical problems at scale.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $170k–$240k annually.
• Eligible for stock options and a comprehensive benefits package (health benefits, flexible time off, 401k, commuter/FSA, lunch program, and a dog-friendly office).
