About the role
Role Overview
Join the fully remote Engineering team at Feedonomics (Commerce) as a Senior Software Engineer (Backend). You’ll build and scale core infrastructure components and services that power a robust, high-performance, data-intensive SaaS platform.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate on the architecture, design, and development of scalable and highly available applications and services.
- Solve complex infrastructure-related problems, including post-release support for scalable applications.
- Improve DevOps practices and tooling by leveraging automation to enhance CI/CD robustness and streamline deployment.
- Drive technical design by presenting architecture solution options to product owners and engineering leadership.
- Conduct post-mortems to analyze failures and prevent repeats.
- Champion continuous improvement across infrastructure and systems.
- Evaluate and recommend tools/technologies/processes that solve concrete business problems.
- Become a domain expert by following industry trends and applying best practices.
Who You Are
- 5+ years backend programming experience.
- 2+ years with PHP (strongly preferred); also acceptable: Python, Go, Java, or similar.
- 2+ years with MySQL (or similar).
- Strong knowledge of database schema design, caching, and scalability.
- Strong understanding of communication protocols (e.g., TCP, RPC).
- Experience with distributed systems.
- Plus: caching tech like Redis or Memcached; DevOps experience.
- Strongly preferred: observability tools such as New Relic.
- Working knowledge of Linux.
- Experience with modern CI/CD and containerization (e.g., Docker).
- Ability to perform time and memory complexity analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements / Eligibility
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- BS or higher in Computer Science or related technical field.
Compensation
- Pay transparency range: $135,960 - $203,940 (final offer depends on location and qualifications).
