About the role

Role Overview

Join the fully remote Engineering team at Feedonomics as a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) – PHP. You’ll work on core infrastructure components and services that power a robust, high-performance, data-intensive SaaS platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate on the architecture, design, and development of scalable and highly available applications and services.
  • Solve complex infrastructure problems; provide post-release support for scalable applications.
  • Improve DevOps practices and tooling, using automation to enhance CI/CD robustness and streamline deployments.
  • Lead technical design by articulating architecture solution options to product owners and Engineering leadership.
  • Run post-mortems to analyze failures and prevent repeats.
  • Champion continuous improvement across end-to-end infrastructure and systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools/technologies/processes to solve concrete business problems.
  • Become a domain expert by staying current with industry trends and applying best practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend programming experience.
  • 2+ years with PHP (strongly preferred).
  • 2+ years with MySQL (or similar).
  • Strong understanding of database schema design, caching, and scalability.
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols (TCP, RPC, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have a BS or higher in Computer Science or related field.

Nice to Have

  • Caching technologies (e.g., Redis or Memcached).
  • DevOps experience.
  • Observability tools such as New Relic.
  • Experience with modern CI/CD and containerization (e.g., Docker).
  • Ability to perform time and memory complexity analysis.
