About the role
Role Overview
Senior Software Engineer on Affirm’s Powered by Affirm (PBA) - Growth team. Own quarterly goals, guide engineers through ambiguity, and ensure successful delivery with a strong culture of quality and ownership.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals and guide engineers through open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and Analytics to support the product development lifecycle.
- Proactively identify and drive resolution of issues across project, process, technology, and business domains.
- Foster team quality and ownership; provide feedback and guidance to develop talent.
Requirements
- 4+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
- Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with simple, extensible design.
- Write high-quality, readable code used by others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Demonstrated ownership of growth; proactively seek feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to make significant changes in a large codebase, using tools/practices to do so safely.
- Track record building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience on platform/growth initiatives within a Powered-by model (PBA).
