Senior Software Engineer, Backend & Infrastructure

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Backend & Infrastructure) at SleepImage. You’ll design, build, and maintain backend systems and cloud infrastructure powering SleepImage’s clinical and internal applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support backend systems for clinical applications, internal tools, and web APIs
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and supporting tools
• Deliver high-quality, scalable, secure solutions across the platform
• Partner with QA/Validation teams to improve test coverage and support test case development
• Maintain and modernize existing features and system components
• Create and maintain technical documentation (e.g., architecture designs, SRS/SDD, revision history)
• Work effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible professional experience
• 3+ years of backend development (JavaScript-focused preferred)
• 1+ year with Infrastructure-as-Code (Pulumi or Terraform preferred)
• 2+ years managing or supporting AWS infrastructure

Technical Skills

• JavaScript / TypeScript
• Node.js (object-oriented development)
• SQL databases (MySQL)
• AWS services and tooling
• CI/CD pipelines, Git, and code quality/security tooling
• Web service–oriented architectures
• Strong understanding of web internals (HTML/CSS)

Nice to Have (Not Required)

• Healthcare/medical/clinical technology experience
• Clinical research or physiological data familiarity
• Graph libraries and implementing designs from Figma

Location & Work Model

• Fully remote for U.S.-based candidates, with optional office work in Denver, CO
• Remote employees expected to travel to Denver 2–3 times per year
• Hours must align with U.S. time zones
