Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Backend) at Included Health. You will design and develop backend systems, services, and tools that power the platform and member-facing applications, delivering scalable, reliable solutions that improve healthcare experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core systems, APIs, and services powering platform and member-facing capabilities
• Solve complex integration challenges across diverse healthcare data sources and workflows
• Build product features and infrastructure to improve usability, efficiency, and outcomes
• Drive technical quality: ensure systems are reliable, performant, secure, and maintainable
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Engineering on technical direction and product goals
• Own projects end-to-end: scope → build → test → launch → maintain
• Mentor teammates and contribute to engineering culture and best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years professional software development experience
• Strong expertise in at least one backend/systems language: Go (Golang), Python, Java, or Ruby
• Experience designing/building APIs, distributed systems, or developer platforms
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB
• Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and microservices architectures
• Ability to balance technical tradeoffs with product/business impact
• Comfortable working in cross-functional, collaborative teams
