About the role
Role Overview
HappyRobot is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to own meaningful parts of the product and infrastructure end-to-end. You’ll build scalable backend systems in an environment with ambiguity, strong ownership culture, and frequent iteration.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services that support the core product
- Improve reliability, performance, and observability
- Work on real-time infrastructure for voice-based AI workflows
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product, and founders
- Ship to production frequently and iterate based on customer needs and system behavior
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience
- Strong backend engineering with focus on scalable systems
- Experience with Go or strong willingness to work in Go in production
- Solid understanding of system design, APIs, data modeling, and service reliability
- Product-oriented mindset and ability to make tradeoffs in a fast-moving environment
- Experience operating and maintaining production services
