Role overview

Senior Software Engineer (Backend) at Cresta, helping build and continuously improve the company’s platform in a remote-first environment. This role is specifically aimed at expanding Cresta’s operations and establishing a Romania tech hub.

Responsibilities

• Build and continuously improve the Cresta platform to support new product requirements.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, well-designed, reusable, and well-tested system components.
• Stay aligned with customer requirements; analyze technical trade-offs and own customer-facing deliverables.
• Optimize for lower latency, higher throughput, better reliability, and cost reduction.
• Demonstrate and uphold engineering best practices.
• Grow into technical ownership of significant product/platform areas.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field).
• Strong API design and maintenance skills, with understanding of gRPC, REST, WebSocket, and related protocols.
• Experience with real-time streaming data (audio/video) with high throughput and low latency.
• Familiarity with high-performance database schema design and query optimization.
• Experience deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
