About the role

Role: Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Platform)

You’ll help build and scale Bubble’s backend platform for millions of builders and arbitrary end-user applications. Join a small, elite Platform team focused on reliability, scalability, and enablement as Bubble grows.

Responsibilities

Implement Bubble infrastructure that can scale to infinitely many apps of varying size and complexity
Improve performance and reliability across backend services (efficiency, capacity management, data tier scaling)
Design and implement observability for core system components, including SLOs and an observability platform that exposes performance characteristics to end users
Support extremely high request volumes by building and iterating on core backbone services
Build and scale the workflow engine and data tier (high-volume ingest/export and workflow reliability for diverse applications)
Develop next-generation cloud infrastructure and foundational services/tools to improve reliability, scalability, and availability
Participate in triage and an on-call process to diagnose and resolve issues and implement fixes

Requirements

Demonstrated experience building scalable backend systems and improving performance/reliability
Experience designing/operating observability and reliability practices (e.g., SLOs)
Ability to work in a small team handling production support and after-hours/on-call availability

Nice-to-haves

Experience with cloud infrastructure, capacity management, and database/data-tier scaling
Experience building workflow/orchestration systems handling high-volume workloads
