Senior Software Engineer (Backend, AI/ML)

Role overview

Join ClickHouse as a Senior Software Engineer (Backend, AI/ML) in the AI/ML Engineering team. You will design, build, and operate AI-powered features, create scalable APIs, integrate with the AI/ML ecosystem, and help bring models into production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement AI-powered features across the stack (from backend inference services to UI-facing experiences in ClickHouse Cloud).
• Build robust, scalable APIs connecting ClickHouse database capabilities with modern AI/ML inference systems and internal/external AI services.
• Implement and maintain AI/ML ecosystem integrations and standards so ClickHouse works seamlessly with popular AI tools/frameworks.
• Participate in the daytime on-call rotation.
• Contribute to developer tools and documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production software engineering experience.
• Backend development experience in Python, Go, or TypeScript, with a focus on API design and service architecture.
• Experience working directly with AI/ML technologies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong ownership to drive features from concept to production with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating and deploying AI/ML models in production, including inference APIs and vector databases.
• Understanding of database systems and data processing pipelines (ClickHouse experience is a plus).
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, especially AWS, Azure, or GCP (AI/ML deployment-related services preferred).
