About the role

Role overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, Back-End (Power Packs), you’ll join the Power Packs engineering team building and operating the customer-facing Power Packs experience. You’ll design and implement the backend services, internal tools, and integrations that support the full pack lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Participate across the full software development lifecycle (concept → production)
  • Build backend (and occasional full-stack) plumbing to connect services, APIs, and product experiences end to end
  • Collaborate with Product and partner engineering teams to convert business requirements into clean technical designs
  • Troubleshoot data, integration, and service issues across a distributed codebase
  • Contribute to technical documentation to improve maintainability and team velocity
  • Raise the bar on system design, observability, and engineering best practices
  • Leverage AI tooling (preference for Claude) to accelerate design/architecture/implementation while maintaining strong engineering judgment and code quality

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience building backend or data-intensive systems in production
  • 4+ years strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
  • Strong fundamentals in databases and data modeling for both:
    • Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
    • NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB)
  • Experience building cloud applications on AWS and with serverless (e.g., AWS Lambda)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience integrating with adjacent collection/platform systems to expand support for new collectible types
  • Strong cross-team collaboration and ownership of shared data foundations for flexible, scalable marketplace experiences
