About the role

Role Overview

Atom Computing is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to implement its quantum computing platform. You will work across the full stack to deliver platforms and applications that give customers access to Atom’s quantum computers, supporting next-generation system development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain public APIs and open-source SDKs for running customer-provided jobs on quantum hardware and simulators
  • Build and maintain infrastructure for automating system tuning and calibration
  • Develop software for scheduling quantum algorithm execution and analyzing results
  • Collaborate with quantum engineers to write idiomatic, tested, extensible code for executing experiments and algorithms on quantum hardware

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of post-degree professional software engineering experience
  • Passion for software engineering and a track record of implementing architecture-level features in complex systems
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with Git, automated testing, and software development best practices
  • Willingness to learn atomic/optical/laser physics and quantum mechanics concepts

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Compiled language experience such as C++ or Rust
  • Familiarity with Azure/AWS and Terraform
  • JavaScript and UI/UX design for web apps
  • Background in physics

Location & Work Model

  • Based in Boulder, CO (also considering Austin, TX)
  • Under exceptional circumstances, the role may be fully remote

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $140,000–$185,000 (annual)
  • Plus annual bonus and equity
