Role Overview

Join Ashby as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll own significant projects, make impactful product and design decisions, and work in a supportive, low-meeting environment.

Key Missions

• Conceive, design, and implement new features and products
• Write product specifications and make design decisions
• Take ownership of a significant portion of one company product
• Manage projects from start to finish
• Collaborate with teammates to deliver outcomes end-to-end

Responsibilities

• Deliver features by doing what’s necessary (writing frontend and/or choosing infrastructure)
• Continuously improve skills, seek feedback, and contribute to the engineering team’s growth
• Strike the right balance between speed and quality
• Create leverage through automation and abstraction
• Vet decisions with appropriate stakeholders and keep them informed
• Work across the stack as needed; handle product and technical ambiguity

Requirements / Profile

• Strong drive to create new abstractions and tooling (e.g., lint rules, support-debugging improvements)
• Comfort tackling both product and technical ambiguity
• Excellent communication: clear and concise collaboration
• Ability to work across any part of the technology stack
• Thrives with feedback and is open to iterative improvement

Nice to Have

• Experience convincing customers to switch by delivering a high-quality product
• Experience building flexible systems (powerful abstractions) rather than CRUD-only apps
