About the role
Role overview
As a Senior Software Engineer at Ashby, you’ll own a significant portion of the product and drive projects end-to-end—from research and design to implementation. You’ll work in a collaborative environment emphasizing minimal process, natural communication, and diversity.
Key missions
- Take charge of a large part of the product, from research to production implementation
- Design and build user-facing features that improve the user experience
- Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to deliver projects successfully
What you’ll be responsible for
- Building features across the stack as needed to deliver outcomes
- Making design/engineering decisions in partnership with stakeholders
- Navigating product and technical ambiguity and creating abstractions/flexibility to solve classes of problems
- Improving leverage through automation, tooling, and preventive measures (e.g., lint rules)
Requirements
- Ability to balance speed and quality (built with urgency, but not rushed)
- Comfort tackling any part of the technology stack (frontend or infrastructure)
- Strong collaboration and communication; vet decisions with stakeholders and keep them updated
- Experience with ambiguity and building solutions at the intersection of product needs and technical constraints
- Ambition to continuously improve skills and welcome feedback
Nice to have
- Experience with (or strong interest in) typed languages
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly to a modern typed stack
