About the role

Role Overview

Join Articulate as a Senior Software Engineer II (fully remote). You will lead feature development, help shape system architecture, set technical direction, and mentor engineers while partnering cross-functionally.

Key Missions & Responsibilities

Lead development of new features and enhancements, balancing fast delivery with long-term maintainability
Shape application architecture for a distributed platform to ensure it is performant, secure, and accessible for global learners
Mentor and support engineers across multiple levels; facilitate technical design discussions
Guide incident response and operations and contribute to reliable system behavior
Partner cross-functionally and influence engineering practices to foster a strong engineering culture

Required Profile

Proficiency developing and operating services on AWS; strong operational/observability skills using Datadog (or equivalent APM)
Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to influence engineering direction beyond your team
Commitment to accessibility and inclusive design
Experience building secure, compliant distributed applications, with focus on scalability, observability, and resilience
Strong backend + frontend expertise: Node.js, Postgres, Docker, React, TypeScript
8+ years experience building and scaling production software systems (or equivalent technical depth)
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-Haves

Experience in or strong knowledge of e-learning platform requirements and learner-focused accessibility practices
