Senior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer on Amplify’s Learning Experience team. You’ll build and evolve products that support K–12 curriculum in math, science, and language arts, with a focus on AI integration and software reliability for real classrooms.

Key Missions

• Contribute to high-impact projects across the full lifecycle, from initial ideation to production deployment.
• Design and implement AI model integration in the platform, including AI-powered tools to support teachers.
• Develop TypeScript across front-end and back-end components.
• Create automated tests and related tooling to ensure quality.
• Collaborate with the DevOps team to ship reliable systems in production.

Responsibilities

• Implement AI integration and supporting tooling.
• Write and review code with other engineers.
• Ensure software reliability in production use (real classroom settings).
• Communicate technical ideas clearly (verbally and in writing).

Requirements

• Passion for education/ed-tech and desire to build equitable, accessible products.
• BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent training) and strong software design fundamentals.
• 3+ years professional software development experience.
• 2+ years with a modern frontend framework (e.g., React).
• Server-side development experience (e.g., Node.js).
• Strong problem-solving in complex systems and large codebases.
• Experience with database technologies (e.g., MongoDB).
• Experience deploying production systems in the cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with TypeScript-based stack and tooling.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with self-driven learning.

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating modern AI technologies such as:
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Model Context Protocol (MCP)
  • Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR)
  • Computer Vision
• Testing experience with frameworks like Jest and WebdriverIO.
• Experience managing infrastructure with Terraform, Docker, and observability tooling like Datadog.
• Experience with education or ed-tech specifically.
