About the role
Role Overview
Join Abridge’s Product Engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll help scale and mature the business by building and supporting web applications, their backends, and the cloud services that power them.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support robust cloud-based services for the business
- Write primarily in TypeScript and React
- Make architectural decisions and recommend technologies
- Ensure systems scale reliably and securely with strong attention to security, privacy, and quality
- Research commercial and open-source solutions and recommend build vs. buy approaches
- Ship and support AI-powered features, using AI tooling as part of everyday workflow
Requirements
- 5+ years experience building, shipping, and operating cloud-based distributed systems at scale
- Proven experience making decisions grounded in real outcomes (what works and what didn’t)
- AI tooling is used daily, with judgment on when to trust vs. verify
- Several years building software for a regulated environment and understanding compliance tradeoffs (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST)
- Experience as a lead engineer for major components/subsystems or ownership of key platform areas
- Familiarity with event pipelines and experience with Kinesis or Kafka
- Willingness to pitch in wherever needed in a fast-moving startup
