About the role

Role Overview

Blooming Health is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to build and elevate the company’s test engineering function as the SaaS platform scales. This is a US-based remote role with required overlap on EST hours, reporting to the Lead QA Engineer.

What You’ll Do

Engineer Automated Tests: Architect, build, and run automated tests that scale across services and remain easy to maintain.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Engineering, Product, AI, and customer-facing teams to balance speed, reliability, and user experience.
Operational Excellence: Improve and expand quality metrics across feature teams and the wider engineering organization.
Secure & Compliant Development Support: Ensure engineering practices support secure development and high standards for sensitive/regulated data.

Requirements

Strong test engineering expertise: Test strategy, automation frameworks, debugging, exploratory testing, and modern QA methodologies.
Hands-on technical leadership: Comfortable contributing as an individual contributor while leading a team; can review architecture and work closely with engineers.
Startup/growth-stage experience: Proven ability to deliver in fast-paced SaaS environments where processes are evolving.
AI-assisted QA workflows: Ability to leverage AI tools/agents to improve QA productivity (e.g., generating test plans, accelerating automation).
Technical curiosity & systems thinking: Deep understanding of application architecture, APIs, backend systems, and tradeoffs.
Cross-functional collaboration: Strong communication with engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders.
Secure data experience: Familiarity working with sensitive or regulated data and secure development practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Healthcare / regulated industry experience: Experience in healthcare technology and HIPAA-regulated environments (or similar).
Modern automation & AI testing practices (as further detailed in the posting).
