Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Role Overview

Accelerant is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead and scale the company’s test automation strategy across an enterprise stack. The role is high-autonomy and high-impact, with ownership of the end-to-end test automation function and the ability to drive decisions on what to automate, how to cover it, and where engineering focus should shift.

Location: Remote (flexible within the U.S.)

Responsibilities

• Drive the test automation initiative
  • Own the test automation roadmap end to end: set strategy, prioritize work, and execute across the team.
  • Partner with QA, engineering, product, and business teams to identify where quality is leaking.
• Scale the foundational test framework
  • Take an existing Playwright/JavaScript framework to an enterprise-grade solution emphasizing performance, stability, and reusability.
• Expand automation breadth and depth
  • Add coverage in areas with limited/no QA support and deepen regression coverage for:
    • Salesforce
    • MuleSoft
    • Microsoft D365 (including Power Apps and F&O)
    • DCR
    • Tagetik
• Create scalable design and review processes
  • Define/test design standards, code review norms, and framework contribution guidelines.
• Scale test execution and reporting
  • Build fast, reliable test infrastructure with clear reporting and dashboards.
  • Enable parallel execution, smart retries, and signal-over-noise reporting.
• Build AI-assisted QA tooling and agents
  • Use Cursor AI to design and ship specialized QA agents for performance testing, regression analysis, and defect triage.
  • Partner with the AI platform team to deploy agents on the organization’s AI fabric (discoverable, governed, reusable).

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and scaling test automation frameworks in production.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Playwright and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience automating against complex enterprise SaaS, ideally:
  • Salesforce
  • MuleSoft
  • D365 (Power Apps and/or F&O)
• Ability to operate with technical autonomy, participate in framework/test architecture discussions, and deliver results.

Nice-to-haves (implied)

• Experience with AI coding assistants for test automation.
• Ability to prototype QA agents (e.g., in Cursor) and iterate quickly.
• Strong opinions on CI/test architecture and tradeoffs.
