Senior Software Development Engineer - Full Stack

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Development Engineer (Full Stack), you will lead end-to-end delivery and ongoing support of full-stack internal products for Zillow Rentals and related businesses. You’ll partner with leadership, end users, and engineering colleagues to build products that improve day-to-day operations and uncover business insights.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new features across the full stack, including:
  • React-based front-ends
  • Services and data-access layers
• Build and maintain internal web applications and APIs for:
  • Analytics workflows
  • Sales enablement
  • Reporting experiences for internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with analytics, sales, operations, and other partners to:
  • Understand business processes
  • Translate requirements into intuitive, reliable internal products
• Raise engineering standards through:
  • Thoughtful code reviews
  • Technical discussions
  • Advocacy for best practices
• Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to an inclusive engineering culture
• Participate in design and architecture discussions to shape the long-term internal tooling direction

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience
• Full-stack development with modern JavaScript (ES6+), React, and TypeScript
• Experience building:
  • APIs
  • GraphQL endpoints
  • Services using one or more of Python or Java
• Comfortable working across service boundaries
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases and choosing appropriate data storage strategies
• Strong modern engineering practices for front-end and back-end systems, including:
  • Automated testing
  • Observability
  • CI/CD
• Experience building/supporting internal tools, analytics experiences, or CRM-adjacent applications for business stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Operations, Analytics, Finance)
• Track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and influencing engineering direction
• Strong focus on systems design, testing, code quality, and maintainability

• Base pay ranges are location-dependent and include equity awards in addition to salary.
