Senior Software Development Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Development Engineer at CVS Health, you will design, develop, and implement digital solutions and systems. You’ll apply advanced technical expertise across architecture, coding, testing/debugging, and collaboration to drive innovation in digital engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Architect and code software applications using advanced engineering practices
• Conduct system testing and debugging
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver digital solutions
• Contribute to technical direction and overall innovation of projects
• Support system deployment tasks and related technologies (CI/CD, infrastructure)
• Build/maintain frontend client applications (if applicable) and integrate via RESTful APIs
• Work with distributed messaging/queuing for asynchronous processing

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, async patterns, OOP design, parallel programming)
• Proficiency with at least one: .NET or Java
• Strong SQL experience (PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and/or MS SQL)
• Experience with cloud-based systems: Azure / AWS / GCP
• Experience with queuing/messaging technologies: Kafka / SNS / RabbitMQ

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years with observability tools (New Relic, Grafana)
• 5+ years with DevOps practices (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Frontend client application experience (Angular preferred)
• Strong revision control experience (Git)
• Experience with big data design concepts (data lake, data mesh, data warehouse) and data normalization
• Experience with metrics/logging/monitoring/alerting tools
• RESTful API experience and experience with Akka messaging technology
• CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Terraform

Education

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent training/experience)

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours/week
