About the role

Role Overview

Senior Software Developer / Build & Tooling Expert (m/w/d) in Jena. You will design and optimize complex build and tooling landscapes for software releases, focusing on performance, reproducibility, and developer enablement.

Responsibilities

Conceive and optimize build & tooling landscapes for .NET and C++ development systems
Analyze compiler, linker, and build processes to enable performant, reproducible software releases
Develop advanced MSBuild solutions (e.g., Custom Targets/Tasks, Multi-Targeting, and project dependencies)
Design and integrate COM-based interfaces and modern .NET interop architectures
Create scalable gRPC service architectures for communication across distributed applications and systems
Build Roslyn analyzers and code-fix providers to enforce and automate technical development standards
Improve CI/CD, build automation, and developer tooling; support complex technology questions

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
Multi-year development experience
Strong expertise in C#, .NET, C++, and the Visual Studio toolchain
Deep knowledge of MSBuild, compiler configuration, build optimization, and large software solutions
Experience with COM, .NET Interop, marshaling, memory leaks, and threading issues
Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and distributed service/microservice architectures
Practical experience with Roslyn, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and automated build/release pipelines
Strong software architecture/platform engineering experience, including legacy modernization and technical support for development teams

Nice-to-haves

Experience in platform engineering and technical ownership for engineering teams
