Role overview

As a Senior Software Developer (API), you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that power high-performance applications and integrations. You’ll work with distributed systems, manage data flows across multiple sources, and optimize APIs for high-throughput demands.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs for reliable data flow and system performance
• Support data access across SQL and NoSQL databases; optimize queries for efficiency
• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, DevOps, and engineers to deliver backend solutions aligned to product requirements
• Create and maintain API documentation, flow diagrams, and usage guides
• Implement and troubleshoot high-usage/high-throughput systems to ensure stability and reliability
• Optimize application and database performance, implementing improvements as needed
• Contribute to cloud-based infrastructure and services, leveraging AWS

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience focused on web applications and backend APIs
• 3+ years with search-related technologies, including OpenSearch or Elasticsearch
• 2+ years with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Proven ability to implement and troubleshoot high-throughput systems and optimize performance
• Experience with cloud-based development, preferably AWS
• Familiarity with data integration and ETL processes, API development, and data ingestion
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (master’s preferred)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, or Data Lakes
• 2+ years using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, or Node.js
