Senior Site Reliability Engineer - US

Role Overview

Teleport is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (US) to help build and scale Teleport Cloud’s production, SaaS infrastructure from scratch. The role focuses on reliability, observability, automation, and operational excellence while ensuring strong security.

What You’ll Do

• Re-engineer the core Teleport product to scale globally and optimize routing latency for distributed teams.
• Rewrite parts of the product to support Teleport Cloud goals.
• Build monitoring and observability to alert on production issues while minimizing false positives.
• Develop automation to reduce and eliminate high-toil operational work.
• Tackle operational challenges including patching, scaling, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and more.
• Investigate outages and incidents reported by customers.
• Participate in 24/7/365 on-call rotation to maintain uptime.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years experience in software engineering and/or SRE/DevOps.
• Strong experience with Linux systems, networking, containers, and troubleshooting.
• Solid Go and Kubernetes development experience.
• Experience building scripts/automation/tooling, submitting patches, and integrating tooling into operational workflows.
• AWS Cloud preferred (GCP acceptable).
• Observability stack experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki (and related tooling).
• Ability to operate in security-critical environments; interest in correctness reasoning (e.g., formal or property-based methods).
• Intellectual curiosity, transparency/no-ego, and strong communication.

Interview Process (Summary)

• Recruiter Zoom screen.
• Zoom with Hiring Manager or Lead Engineer to review a take-home coding challenge.
• Coding challenge collaboration with support from the team.
