About the role
Role overview
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Platform & Cloud FinOps) at Hopper, you will help optimize Google Cloud infrastructure to improve system reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency. You’ll work with a small team of SREs on platform incident response and ongoing reliability and FinOps improvements.
Key missions
- Improve cost efficiency initiatives (e.g., reduce network egress costs, optimize autoscaling).
- Support incident resolution and participate in an on-call rotation for platform incidents.
- Enhance cost attribution so teams have clear visibility into their costs.
Requirements
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Communication skills.
- Ability to perform system design with strong analytical capabilities.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting with Bash and Python (or other scripting languages).
- Security knowledge, including IAM, RBAC, and network security.
- Experience with database technologies.
- Knowledge of major cloud providers, preferably Google Cloud.
- Observability experience (logs, metrics, APM), preferably Datadog.
- Experience with CI/CD.
- Strong background in SRE/DevOps/software engineering/systems engineering.
Nice-to-haves / Additional focus areas
- Containers and Kubernetes, plus tooling such as Kustomize and Helm.
- Networking knowledge (DNS, TLS, certificates, ingresses).
- SQL knowledge.
- Service Mesh, preferably Istio.
