Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Platform & Cloud FinOps)

Role Overview

Join Hopper as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Platform & Cloud FinOps). You’ll work with a small, high-performing team to improve cost efficiency, autoscaling optimization, and cost attribution visibility, while also supporting incident response and infrastructure reliability.

Key Missions

• Improve cost efficiency initiatives (e.g., reduce network egress costs and optimize autoscaling).
• Enhance cost attribution and provide visibility of costs across teams.
• Support platform incidents and participate in the on-call rotation for platform incidents.

Requirements

• Strong SRE/DevOps/software engineering background with a focus on building systems that are scalable, reliable, secure, and optimized.
• Practical problem-solving skills and ability to implement simple, reliable, cost-effective solutions.
• Passion for automation and keeping systems optimized.
• Good communication skills.

Security & Infrastructure Knowledge

• Security fundamentals including IAM, RBAC, and network security.
• Troubleshooting expertise.
• Observability experience with log/metrics/APM tooling (preferably Datadog).
• Strong system design and analytical capabilities.

Technical Skills (Preferred/Required)

• Containers and Kubernetes, including Kustomize and Helm.
• Networking knowledge: DNS, TLS, certificates, ingresses.
• Database technologies.
• Service mesh experience, preferably Istio.
• CI/CD knowledge.
• SQL knowledge.
• Authentication/authorization technologies.
• Scripting with Bash and Python (or other scripting languages).
• Cloud provider knowledge, preferably Google Cloud.

• Enjoys automating infrastructure and continuously optimizing platform performance and cost.
