Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Perchwell. Own and improve the technical foundations of Perchwell’s production infrastructure, while driving engineering rigor, reliability, resiliency, and adaptability across the SRE function.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable processes and solutions for fundamental engineering challenges.
• Design and manage secure AWS and GCP infrastructure at scale.
• Partner with Quality to own and evolve CI/CD processes for fast, safe, frequent deployments.
• Contribute to and evolve Kubernetes infrastructure and strategy.
• Build and manage safe self-service infrastructure methods for teams using Terraform and automation tools.
• Be a champion of observability (o11y) by owning observability systems and enforcing best practices for performance and service monitoring.
• Improve incident management and disaster recovery processes.
• Work closely with VP Engineering and senior leaders to remediate current reliability issues and build new capabilities.
• Maintain relationships with product and QA to help teams innovate safely.

On-Call / Location

• On-call required.
• If based in the NYC area, work from New York City HQ (Soho Manhattan) 3 days/week; otherwise remote work is available.

Required Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience.
• Distributed systems experience.
• Deep experience building and operating infrastructure on AWS or GCP (and willingness to learn the other cloud).
• Strong Kubernetes knowledge (deploying, managing, scaling, orchestrating clusters; automating/exposing to other teams).
• Evidence of building tools and/or enabling automation for your team or others.
• Experience using at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Rust) to solve problems and close feature gaps.
