About the role

Role Overview

Senior Site Reliability Engineer responsible for building and operating reliable systems in AWS, leading DevSecOps/security practices, and driving automation and progressive delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate applications and infrastructure on AWS, including networking and security tooling.
  • Lead DevSecOps initiatives across security, automation, implementation, integration, and release management.
  • Establish and mature application development and CI/CD for progressive delivery.
  • Develop infrastructure as code using CloudFormation.
  • Improve incident readiness by driving real-time monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics; lead resolution of critical incidents.
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder technical root cause sessions and deliver roadmaps for future improvements.
  • Manage critical-incident communications, ensuring actions are assigned with timelines.
  • Support observability and telemetry using tools such as Datadog.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years experience required (posting also references 12+ years in required skills).
  • Hands-on experience operating on AWS, including networking and IT security tools and databases.
  • Strong DevSecOps/security/automation expertise.
  • Proficiency with AWS EKS and Kubernetes-based containerized applications, including Spring Boot-based services.
  • Strong CI/CD experience with GitLab, including enabling environments, feature flags, and aggregation of DORA Metrics.
  • Experience with identity and access management (roles, permissions).
  • Cloud observability/operations experience using CloudWatch and OpenSearch.
  • Observability experience with Datadog.
  • Coding proficiency in at least one: Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby.
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly.
  • Must be able to execute tactically and strategically with strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves / Additional Skills

  • AWS Solutions Architect – Professional and AWS Certified Security – Specialty.
  • Experience with PaaS environments.
  • Familiarity with remote access protocols/tools such as SFTP, RDP (Citrix), PCoIP/DCV (AWS Workspaces) and AWS Session Manager.
  • Real-time monitoring/alerting/incident tooling experience.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or relevant field required.
