About the role
Role Overview
Circle is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help scale its platform with confidence. You’ll ensure systems remain fast, reliable, and secure as demand grows, working in a highly impactful, hands-on role.
Responsibilities
- First responder for system incidents and outages; help maintain high availability and performance
- Own and evolve monitoring, alerting, and log management systems
- Manage and optimize database infrastructure, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Redis
- Maintain and improve server infrastructure and deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with engineering teams to build scalable and resilient systems
- Contribute to internal SRE tooling and automation efforts
Requirements
- Strong alignment with Circle’s values
- Fluent English (CEFR C2 / ILR 5)
- Deep expertise in AWS and Kubernetes
- 5+ years in Site Reliability, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering
- Proven experience scaling production systems in a high-growth environment (startup or similar)
- Practical day-to-day experience using AI tools to improve engineering productivity/outcomes (e.g., copilots, LLM debugging, automation, documentation workflows)
- Helped scale an early-stage product to 1M+ monthly active users
- Experience managing incident response and production outages
- Hands-on database operations and optimization
- Familiarity with observability: monitoring and logging best practices
- Based in North or South America (AMER region)
Bonus
- Experience with SOC 2 compliance or building secure infrastructure
- Experience with ClickHouse or similar technologies
Compensation & Benefits
- $130,000–$140,000 USD/year
- U.S.-benchmarked global compensation, equity with ongoing refresh grants
- 35 days of paid time off annually
- Remote-only with two in-person retreats per year
