About the role
Role Overview
Calendly is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to design, build, maintain, and operate a next-generation infrastructure platform. You’ll partner closely with application engineering teams to improve stability, performance, and observability, while building internal tools and deploying cloud-native solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build tools and applications that extend Calendly’s infrastructure platform
- Evaluate, deploy, and maintain cloud-native open source tooling
- Apply cloud infrastructure concepts and scalable reliability patterns
- Improve resilience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Maintain and improve observability; provide patterns for application teams to adopt
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support the infrastructure platform
- Define standards and tooling for:
- new services and changes
- incidents and postmortems
- capacity management
- Collaborate with application teams to adopt best practices
- Foster a learning-focused environment by sharing knowledge and mentoring others
Requirements
- Strong communication skills; able to explain patterns and improvements that automate work and enhance reliability/performance
- Strong ability to solve complex problems with attention to detail
- Comfortable working with internal stakeholders to understand needs and collaborate on solutions
- Deep expertise with Linux
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure (especially GCP), distributed systems, and reliability practices
- Deep experience designing/building/running highly available production infrastructure
- Golang or Python experience, especially building/authoring APIs to orchestrate and manage infrastructure
- Solid knowledge of cloud-native application patterns on Kubernetes (e.g., Controllers and Operators)
- Strong networking principles and extensive experience with cloud networking technologies for scalable, secure environments
- Extensive monitoring experience (especially Datadog)
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States (no immigration sponsorship)
