About the role

Role Overview

Senior Shopify Developer responsible for developing, enhancing, and optimizing GLD’s Shopify Plus storefront. You’ll help scale e-commerce growth by improving site performance, functionality, and user experience, while providing technical leadership across the team.

Responsibilities

Lead development and ongoing maintenance of the Shopify Plus storefront (scalable, performant, reliable)
Build and customize Shopify themes and templates
Implement new features using Shopify Liquid, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and APIs
Work with cross-functional teams (eCommerce, Marketing, Creative, IT) to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions
Deliver mobile-first, responsive, cross-browser experiences
Optimize site speed, performance, and SEO best practices
Develop and maintain private/public Shopify apps to support unique business processes
Integrate third-party services and systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, fulfillment, analytics)
Stay current with Shopify platform updates and industry trends to improve customer experience and backend efficiency
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers and contractors

Requirements

Strong Shopify theme development/customization experience using Liquid
Proven experience building frontend applications with React and Redux
Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
Hands-on experience with server-side rendering (SSR) using frameworks like Remix
Deep understanding of the Shopify platform and Liquid templating
Knowledge of responsive web design and frontend performance principles
Working knowledge of Node.js for SSR and data integration

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions
SEO best practices experience
Experience with GraphQL APIs
Exposure to Firebase and real-time data syncing
Knowledge of Shopify Hydrogen (headless e-commerce)
Experience writing unit and integration tests for frontend components
