Role Overview

Senior Shopify Developer (Remote)

Design and implement high-quality front-end features across the company’s Shopify-based e-commerce platforms, collaborating with UX/UI designers, back-end developers, and stakeholders to deliver performant, scalable, and business-aligned experiences.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain responsive, high-performance UI features for e-commerce.
Analyze performance metrics and implement optimizations to improve load times, responsiveness, and UX.
Collaborate with UX/UI, back-end developers, and project managers to meet user requirements and business goals.
Apply front-end best practices: clean code, testing methodologies, and version control.
Help evolve front-end architecture for scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
Identify and resolve front-end issues to improve functionality and user satisfaction.
Stay current with front-end trends and technologies.
Create/maintain documentation and clearly communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

7+ years front-end development experience with a strong portfolio.
3+ years Shopify development, including Liquid and Hydrogen and custom apps.
Experience implementing robust API integrations.
Strong knowledge of responsive design, accessibility, and mobile-first development.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks (React preferred).
Hands-on experience with web performance optimization techniques and tools.
Team collaboration experience with designers, developers, and product managers.
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and a track record of high-quality delivery.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Experience with Git and Git hosting platforms (GitHub/GitLab).
Ability to work in a remote, asynchronous environment using collaboration tools and written updates.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.
TypeScript experience.
Experience with headless commerce, CI/CD, and/or automated testing tools (e.g., Jest, Playwright, Chromatic, Storybook).
