About the role

Role overview

You’ll be a Senior Security Engineer (Cloud) responsible for engineering and securing Chainguard’s multi-cloud environment that powers the product platform. The role focuses on cloud-native security and resilience, and on securing the open source software supply chain that increasingly feeds both AI agents and human engineers.

What you’ll do

Architect and maintain secure, resilient cloud environments optimized for performance
Partner with Developer Platform to embed security into developer architecture and tooling
Work with IAM counterparts to design and enforce identity and access strategies across cloud environments
Harden cloud platforms against emerging threats while keeping services resilient and highly available
Use a DevOps mindset to build automation, pipelines, and guardrails using Terraform/IaC and Kubernetes
Help secure infrastructure behind AI-driven pipelines and agentic workflows
Serve as a trusted advisor across engineering by translating security requirements into practical designs teams can adopt
Help set the long-term cloud security architecture vision and adapt plans as the company scales
Assist with incident response investigations when relevant

Requirements

Strong, hands-on GCP administrative experience (must-have)
Solid DevOps background with comfort in Terraform/IaC, Kubernetes (GKE), and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with software supply chain security concepts (notably SLSA is a strong plus)

Nice-to-haves

Experience with AWS and/or Azure
Experience securing or architecting AI/ML infrastructure or agentic workflows

Reporting & collaboration

Reports to the Director of Cyber Resiliency
Partners closely with Developer Platform and IAM teams
