About the role

Role Overview

Senior SDET/ETL Test Engineer (100% remote) responsible for ETL process data testing across Master Data Management (MDM), a Data Warehouse, and Data Analytics. You will design, enhance, and execute both manual and automated test plans for ETL and data migration—especially during cloud migration.

Responsibilities

Develop, modify, and execute test plans for ETL and data migration activities
Perform/own testing scenarios including:
- Load balance testing
- Duplicate run testing
- Negative testing using invalid test data
- Performance/volume testing
- Regression testing (build and execute scenarios)
Validate data through data validation, integrity checks, and reconciliation across source and target systems
Write complex SQL to verify results for ETL processes, including data mining and validation of foreign key dependencies
Investigate defects and root causes, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with external teams to drive resolutions
Review requirements/specs/use cases/design and architecture documents to create robust test coverage
Estimate testing effort and timelines to support high-quality implementations
Contribute to test data creation (manually or with tools/programs/masking)
Maintain and improve data quality frameworks and test/process documentation
Participate in Agile Scrum delivery, requirements, and code reviews; drive quality best practices

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with ETL process testing
Deep knowledge of dimensional databases
Strong, hands-on SQL skills for results validation, data mining, and evaluating foreign key dependencies
Ability to independently develop, modify, and execute test plans based on requirements and design documents
Strong troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and support development resolutions
Proven experience covering load balance, duplicate run, negative (invalid data), performance/volume, and regression testing

Nice-to-haves

Experience improving or evolving enterprise data quality practices/frameworks
Experience maintaining automated and manual test strategies as a test/quality advocate in Agile environments
