Senior Researcher & Taxonomist (Contract)

Role Overview

You will lead the development of a scalable taxonomy that categorizes user jobs and tasks across multiple domains. The work combines qualitative and quantitative user research with information architecture to translate insights into a structured framework that informs product strategy.

Key Missions

• Design, build, and continuously refine a scalable taxonomy of:
  • jobs and sub-domains
  • distinct user tasks
  • associated tools and data used across job roles
• Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative user research to inform and validate the taxonomy.
• Use AI-moderated user research tools to scale qualitative data collection.
• Translate complex research findings into clear artifacts such as:
  • user models
  • documentation and frameworks
• Ensure the taxonomy directly supports product strategy.

Profile / Requirements

• Taxonomy & Frameworks: Strong understanding of classification systems and hierarchical modeling; experience with frameworks like Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD). Prior taxonomy experience for B2B software, HR tech, or professional tooling.
• Research Expertise: Ability to independently design and run rigorous qualitative and quantitative studies.
• Statistical Literacy / Survey Science: Comfort designing surveys and analyzing data to rank and prioritize user tasks.
• Tech-forward: Experience with (or strong willingness to master) AI-moderated user research platforms.
• Experience: 3+ years in UX Research, Information Architecture, Taxonomy, Applied Economics, HCI, or a related user-behavior field.
• Communication: Ability to present complex architecture concepts clearly to stakeholders.
• Advanced / Nice-to-have: Familiarity with advanced prioritization frameworks, Bayesian statistics, and advanced scripting techniques for data analysis.

Contract & Location

• 4-month contract with possibility of extension.
• Full remote.
