Senior Research Data Scientist

Role overview

As a Senior Research Data Scientist at Abridge (fully remote), you’ll be the team’s expert on data assets, structures, and pipelines, partnering with research scientists to tackle complex healthcare data questions. You’ll run quantitative evaluations, develop and validate meaningful metrics, and turn analysis into clear narratives for different audiences.

Key missions

• Conduct empirical evaluations of Abridge models and products using data from real-world deployments.
• Develop and validate metrics that reflect outcomes significant for providers and patients.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, science, and data teams to ensure evaluation and analysis are credible.
• Translate complex quantitative findings into clear, audience-friendly explanations.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to quantitative evaluation design and execution.
• Build and work with data pipelines and data infrastructure.
• Perform rigorous analysis using observational and/or experimental data.

Requirements

• Proven ability to conduct empirical evaluations using observational or experimental data with rigorous quantitative (or mixed-methods) approaches.
• Strong team collaboration and comfort helping others solve data problems.
• Problem-before-method mindset: advance methodology to address real-world healthcare questions.
• Ability to operate across the spectrum from data engineering to applied science (e.g., develop pipelines and run evaluation studies with research scientists).
• 3+ years of data science experience in academic or industry research settings.
• 8+ years using SQL and Python or R for data science, including experience with pipelines and infrastructure.
• Experience with code-based data visualization tools (e.g., Seaborn, ggplot2).
• Excellent communication skills for presenting quantitative results to non-technical stakeholders.
