Senior Release Engineer

Role overview

Senior Release Engineer responsible for designing, maintaining, and continuously improving Onebrief’s deployment processes. You will build CI/CD systems, implement automated security controls, manage production environments, and own the Kubernetes platform—partnering with engineering teams to reduce delivery bottlenecks and improve release safety.

Key missions

• Design, maintain, and improve the “deployment Golden Path” to ensure releases are fast, reliable, and secure by default.
• Build and scale CI/CD systems with:
  • deterministic builds
  • high cache efficiency
  • rapid feedback loops
  • strong developer productivity
• Implement and operate automated security controls so every release meets security standards by default.

Responsibilities

• Operate and enhance production deployment processes and environments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to remove delivery friction.
• Translate complex infrastructure/platform requirements into scalable solutions.
• Influence engineering practices via mentorship and technical leadership.

Requirements

• Infrastructure as Code and configuration management fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience integrating security tooling into delivery pipelines (e.g., vulnerability/dependency/app security scanning).
• Proven track record building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines in cloud-native environments.
• Comfortable working with modern deployment and GitOps tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and Argo CD.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, containers, and distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience operating/scaling production systems with focus on reliability and security.
• Deep experience with Kubernetes and Helm in production.
• Experience operating multi-cluster Kubernetes environments.
• Strong communication skills in a remote-first environment.
• 4+ years in Platform Engineering, Release Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related roles.

Nice to have

• Observability experience with Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with internal developer platforms / self-service infrastructure.
• Experience supporting rapidly growing engineering organizations to improve developer productivity at scale.
