Senior Recruiting Manager (Engineering & Data)

Role Overview

Join Thumbtack as a Senior Recruiting Manager (Engineering & Data). This is a player-coach role where you will own the full technical recruiting vertical, manage a Senior Recruiter, and partner closely with Engineering and Data leadership.

Key Missions

• Own the end-to-end technical recruiting process for a portfolio of roles (from sourcing/introduction through to offer close).
• Directly manage and develop a Senior Recruiter while maintaining a hands-on requisition load.
• Build and execute talent strategies for Engineering and Data, including long-term pipeline development for hard-to-fill roles.
• Continuously improve the hiring process and contribute to an AI-native recruiting agenda.

Responsibilities & Impact

• Drive hiring strategy using recruiting metrics and data.
• Improve funnel performance by diagnosing issues and implementing measurable changes.
• Act as the primary recruiting partner to senior leadership on talent market dynamics and close planning.

Requirements

• 8+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including substantial recruiting experience for Engineering and/or Data.
• Proven ability to use recruiting analytics and funnel metrics to drive improvements.
• Strong expertise in structured interviewing, selection methodologies, and recruiting process design.
• Experience leading complex offer negotiations and advising stakeholders on hiring strategy and close plans.
• Demonstrated success building trusted partnerships with senior leaders and influencing hiring decisions with data and market insights.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools in recruiting workflows, with a point of view on where AI creates real leverage.
• 2+ years experience leading recruiters, including performance management, coaching, workload planning, and professional development.
