Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Role Overview

K1X is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer for its Next Platform team. You will serve as a technical leader and quality authority, defining and executing automation strategy, building scalable testing frameworks, and establishing quality standards for complex tax-domain functionality.

Responsibilities

Domain Expertise & Application Knowledge

• Develop deep understanding of the Next Platform application, architecture, and business workflows.
• Build mastery of K-1 partnership and S-corporation tax forms, tax processing rules, and related financial documents.
• Translate complex tax concepts into test strategy and prioritization.
• Own quality authority across functionality, user workflows, and business requirements.
• Partner with Product Management to ensure requirements are complete and testable.
• Identify requirement gaps and advocate for clarity before development begins.

Manual & Exploratory Testing

• Perform sophisticated manual and exploratory testing for complex scenarios, new features, and critical workflows.
• Run deep-dive testing for integrations with external tax systems and data sources.
• Validate document processing accuracy, including PDF generation and tax form calculations.
• Execute end-to-end testing of complex user journeys.

Automation & Tooling Strategy

• Design and implement comprehensive test automation frameworks using Playwright (primary for E2E and API testing).
• Use Claude Code (AI-assisted development) to accelerate test case generation and improve automation output.
• Integrate Playwright automated tests into CI/CD for deployment validation.
• Establish Playwright/Claude Code best practices, coding standards, and reusable patterns for the QA team.
• Drive shift-left testing by generating and validating tests early in the SDLC using Claude Code.
• Build reusable Playwright libraries, page object models, and utilities.
• Evaluate and adopt additional testing tools as needed to complement the core Playwright + Claude Code approach.

Test Planning and Strategy

• Define QA strategies aligned with Next Platform goals and timelines.
• Perform risk-based regression analysis and set release testing priorities.
• Develop test plans for functional, regression, integration, API, and security testing.
• Use AI techniques for requirements analysis, test case generation, and quality validation.
• Define quality metrics and KPIs to measure testing effectiveness.

Technical Leadership

• Lead testing for complex features and system integrations.
• Provide technical guidance on QA/test architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in QA processes.
