Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer (Remote)

You will ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of complex, data-intensive systems, working across the full software lifecycle. The role focuses on validating functionality, accuracy, and performance at scale for backend and data-driven applications.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end quality efforts across features and product areas
• Design and execute test strategies for complex, data-heavy systems
• Validate systems handling large volumes of data and high-throughput workloads
• Develop and execute test cases for:
  • Data accuracy
  • System performance
• Write and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity and troubleshoot issues
• Partner with engineering teams to identify, reproduce, and resolve defects
• Improve test frameworks, tools, and overall QA processes
• Participate in design reviews to ensure testability and scalability
• Provide clear, structured feedback during testing cycles

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of QA or software testing experience
• Strong experience testing backend systems and/or data-driven applications
• Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (joins, aggregations)
• Hands-on validation of large-scale datasets and high-volume systems
• Experience with one or more: Python, Java, JavaScript, or C++
• Ability to test complex environments and identify edge cases at scale
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Experience working in an agile collaborative engineering environment

• Historian/data-focused QA
• Performance/system QA including load, throughput, latency, and stability testing

Nice-to-haves / strong preference

• Experience with high-throughput or distributed systems
• Familiarity with performance testing tools and methodologies
• Time-series data concepts
• Complex SQL for validation and debugging
