About the role
Role Overview
NRG is seeking a Senior Qualitative Research Manager & Moderator for its Devices & Services team. The role leads an ongoing qualitative research program for a major social media platform, helping shape how millions of users engage with and experience the product.
Responsibilities
- Oversee qualitative UX studies end to end, from research design and recruitment materials to reporting.
- Write screeners, craft discussion guides, manage logistics, and moderate sessions.
- Conduct in-person and remote research using qualitative methods such as:
- Interviews
- Diary studies
- Usability testing
- Focus groups
- Concept evaluations
- Journey mapping
- Synthesize findings into strategic, actionable insights for product, design, features, and content decisions.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with high-quality deliverables.
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to the client with proactive guidance on evolving research needs.
- Mentor junior team members, providing feedback, direction, and growth opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal/external operations teams (e.g., programming, fieldwork, facilities, data processing) to meet stringent timelines.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on experience designing and conducting qualitative research studies.
- Degree (preferred) in Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, UX Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong moderation skills to lead engaging user sessions.
- UX research expertise, including familiarity with user behavior research.
- Ability to demonstrate qualitative rigor (screeners, recruitment management, discussion guide creation).
- Excellent communication and storytelling, including strong writing and the ability to present insights clearly.
- Data-driven approach to identifying trends across both structured and unstructured data.
