Senior QA Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior QA Engineer at Steno, you will lead QA efforts across complex systems, define and improve the testing strategy, and mentor junior QA engineers. You’ll design advanced test automation, run system integration testing, and partner closely with development leads and product managers.

Key Missions

• Lead QA planning sessions for features and major releases.
• Design and implement advanced test automation solutions.
• Execute complex system integration testing and evaluate overall test coverage.
• Collaborate with engineering and product leaders on quality and release readiness.
• Mentor QA engineers (especially juniors), guide their growth, and drive continuous improvement.
• Analyze quality metrics and improve QA processes and tooling.
• Review pull requests to identify risks and design targeted regression tests.

Requirements

• 5+ years of QA experience, with demonstrated leadership and strategic planning.
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or Selenium.
• Experience with system integration testing and performance testing.
• Deep understanding of software testing methodologies and when to apply different techniques.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort digging into complex codebases to understand what needs to be tested.
• Familiar with CI and pull request review for regression and risk identification.
• Strong familiarity with SQL, browser dev tools, and web request tools (e.g., Postman).

• Practical mindset around balancing under/over-engineering and focusing on edge cases and real-world scenarios.
