Role Overview

You’ll join Upgrade as a Senior QA Automation Engineer (Platform). This is a build role focused on architecting and delivering test automation infrastructure, tooling, and agentic solutions to help engineering teams move faster and ship with confidence.

Key Missions

Architect and build test automation infrastructure, tooling, and agentic solutions to increase engineering productivity.
Design and own an automation framework for functional and performance testing; build agents to automate existing QA/testing workflows.
Assess gaps in current frameworks and tools, then iterate toward solutions that close those gaps.

Responsibilities

Take ambiguous problem statements and produce scoped, defensible solutions independently.
Partner with product teams to understand automation requirements.
Design services from scratch and own them in production.

Requirements

5–7+ years building production software with deep experience in:
- test infrastructure
- test frameworks
- developer tooling
Working knowledge of platform engineering.
Fluency with agentic coding tools: orchestrate multiple agents to execute work and review agent-generated PRs.
Hands-on experience with microservices and Kubernetes, including managing the deployment lifecycle.
Proven ability to build agentic solutions and test automation frameworks from the ground up (shipped, iterated, and adopted by other engineers).
