Senior Python Developer

Role overview

Aretum is seeking a Senior Python Developer to help lead the integration of a custom application with client systems. This is a federal consulting role where you may handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must follow applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally in an Agile environment
• Build FastAPI services to display and deliver content
• Develop microservices and contribute to both front-end and back-end code
• Create ETL processes
• Integrate and work directly with a Project Manager to support emerging client needs
• Mentor peers and junior developers on Python design
• Collaborate in a highly collaborative environment; manage multiple tasks; communicate effectively

Requirements

• 8+ years of solid Python development experience
• 8+ years overall OOP programming experience
• API development and integration experience
• Microservices experience
• Experience with JavaScript and jQuery
• Search engine experience (e.g., Solr or Elasticsearch)
• Experience designing/developing enterprise web and search systems
• Enterprise database experience (e.g., PostgreSQL and MySQL)
• Container technologies experience (e.g., Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)
• Comfort working with open-source solutions and enterprise Python usage
• Expertise in CI/CD solutions
• Experience with large-scale AWS solutions and Terraform
• Agile environment experience

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field
• Experience with the federal government
• FastAPI experience (highly preferred)

Travel / location

• Remote position with occasional travel (<10%) for project needs, client meetings, team events, or training
