Senior Project Manager

Role Overview

As a Senior Project Manager at Abacus Insights, you will lead complex IT projects for clients in the US healthcare payer space. You’ll own end-to-end delivery, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and help grow toward senior PMO leadership.

Key Missions

• Lead high-visibility IT projects across a portfolio of client implementations in the healthcare payer market, ensuring end-to-end delivery.
• Coordinate with Client Delivery Managers to turn client requirements into:
  • delivery objectives, milestones, dependencies, and sequencing
• Apply standard project management practices for:
  • Schedule Management
  • Risk Management
  • Communications Management
  • Stakeholder Engagement to improve delivery predictability.

Tools & Skills (What You’ll Use)

• Hands-on with Smartsheet and Jira for schedule management, backlog coordination, RAID tracking, and stakeholder reporting.
• Experience using AI agentic tools to support planning and reporting.

Requirements

• 10+ years leading technically complex IT projects/programs; 8+ years as a dedicated Project Manager.
• Comfortable in hybrid delivery environments combining Agile execution with milestone-based planning and schedule governance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to defend positions, drive decisions, and hold teams accountable.
• Technical fluency to coordinate across software development, data engineering, system integration, QA, and architecture, and make informed risk/trade-off decisions.
• Strong risk and dependency management: identify, track, and escalate risks/issues/dependencies early.
• Proven end-to-end project governance using PMO artifacts such as:
  • Project Charter
  • RAID
  • RACI
  • schedules and status reporting
• Demonstrated delivery of healthcare IT implementations, with payer-side experience strongly preferred.
• US healthcare implementation and exposure to healthcare payer environments; experience working with a US Medicaid payer.
• Formal certification such as PMP or PRINCE2.
• CSM (or equivalent Agile certification) supporting effective Agile/hybrid collaboration with Product, Engineering, and QA.
