Senior Program Manager - Technical

Role Overview

The Red Hat Commercial Services team is seeking a Senior Program Manager – Technical to manage programs remotely in the western U.S. You will drive programs from initiation through delivery and closure by coordinating cross-functional teams, tracking progress, and ensuring projects complete on time and within budget.

What You Will Do

• Control program requirements, scope, and change management issues
• Determine, monitor, and review program economics (costs, operational budgets, staffing, resources, risks)
• Ensure adherence to legally binding requirements
• Facilitate development of project control solutions for planning, scheduling, and tracking
• Manage program forecasts for clients and internally within Red Hat
• Support program proposals, bids, contracts, estimates, and schedules; contribute to estimation
• Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on program activities, including subcontractor monitoring
• Establish metrics to measure key program criteria
• Develop project control and reporting procedures, and manage operational plan changes
• Run status review meetings among program teams and clients
• Apply industry PM and technical delivery methodologies (including Agile and Red Hat services PM methodology)
• Train the project team on applicable procedures; motivate teams to hit schedules and resolve issues
• Stay current on emerging technologies and PM techniques
• Travel to support regional accounts and service provider partners

What You Will Bring

• 5–10 years of relevant program and project management experience (preferably large, complex enterprise IT programs)
• Experience managing multi-workstream programs from inception to closure
• Experience with project management and Agile tools/frameworks/methodologies
• Track record of process improvements
• Ability to work with multicultural, multidisciplinary teams and partners
• Strong written and verbal communication, including executive-level customer communication
• Excellent organization and detail orientation; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong mix of business and technical background
• Ability to articulate and advocate the Red Hat Services PM methodology and techniques
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). Certifications (Scrum Master, Lean, product/project management) and computer science training are a plus
• Knowledge of open source software technologies preferred

• Remote in the U.S. Pacific, Mountain, or Central time zones (western U.S.).
