Senior Program Manager - Technical

Role Overview

Red Hat Commercial Services is seeking a Senior Program Manager (Technical) to manage programs end-to-end—from initiation and delivery through closure—remotely in the western U.S. The role focuses on cross-functional coordination, planning and tracking, program economics, and managing scope/change to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Control program requirements, scope, and change management from start to finish.
• Determine, monitor, and review program economics, including costs, operational budgets, staffing/resource needs, and risk.
• Ensure adherence to legally binding requirements.
• Facilitate project control solution development for planning, scheduling, and tracking; integrate multiple project management tools.
• Create and maintain program forecasts for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Support program proposals, bids, contracts, estimates, and schedules, including contributing to estimation.
• Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on program activities, including subcontractor monitoring.
• Establish metrics to measure key program criteria.
• Develop project control and reporting procedures, managing changes to the operational plan.
• Run status review meetings across program teams and with clients.
• Integrate and apply PM and technical delivery methodologies, including methodologies based on Agile and Red Hat Services PM methodology.
• Assist with training the project team on procedures and motivate teams to meet goals, schedules, and resolve technical/operational issues.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and project management techniques.
• Travel to work with regional accounts and service provider partners in person.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of relevant program and project management experience, preferably managing large, complex enterprise IT projects.
• Proven experience managing multi-workstream programs from inception to closure.
• Experience using project management and agile tools/frameworks/methodologies.
• Ability to establish/contribute to process improvements.
• Ability to work effectively with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams across multiple geographies.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including communicating with executive-level customer stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Balanced business and technical aptitude; articulate the PM value proposition.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

• Scrum Master, Lean, Product Management, and/or Project Management certifications.
• Computer science training.
• Knowledge/experience with open source software technologies.
