Senior Product Owner

Role Overview

Senior Product Owner at 3Pillar leading backlog ownership for complex engagements spanning multiple teams/tracks. The role emphasizes autonomy, strong decision-making in ambiguous situations, and high backlog craft and rigor.

Responsibilities

• Own the backlog and story quality for complex engagements across multiple engineering tracks/workstreams
• Translate product strategy/roadmaps from 3Pillar PMs and client PMs/Product Owners into epics, stories, and acceptance criteria
• Navigate ambiguity by:
  • Identifying requirement gaps
  • Driving conversations to resolve them
  • Making defensible decisions when direction is incomplete
• Lead and facilitate backlog refinement; keep the team unblocked on story clarity
• Participate in Agile ceremonies as a senior, prepared contributor and help improve ceremony effectiveness
• Mentor and guide other Product Owners; review stories and raise the quality bar
• Partner with UX to ensure research findings and design decisions are accurately translated into the backlog
• Communicate backlog health, scope risks, and delivery signals to PMs and the Delivery Lead
• Champion AI-forward backlog practices, modeling effective use of AI in story writing, acceptance criteria, and requirements analysis
• Contribute product context in client-facing sessions when needed (scope, requirements, trade-offs)

Requirements

• 7+ years experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst on software delivery teams
• 4+ years in consulting / professional services / agency environments
• Demonstrated ability to own complex backlogs across multi-team or multi-track engagements
• Experience working from both internal PM direction and direct client PM/PO direction
• Strong Agile/Scrum practitioner with understanding of how backlog quality impacts delivery
• High autonomy and ability to resolve requirements gaps without constant direction
• Ability to collaborate with client PMs/POs, including constructive pushback when needed
• Credible client-facing communication on scope, requirements, and trade-offs
• Strong written communication/documentation skills
